Did you know that immediately after Christmas, artificial trees go on sale for up to 80% off? So make plans this December to go out shopping a couple of days after Christmas to snag a mini tree. Or two. Or five, like I once did. Since St. Patrick’s Day is my 2nd favorite holiday, this year I created a mini St Patrick’s Day tree. Being more Irish than any other ancestry, I love St. Patrick’s Day. The holiday makes me feel closer to my people across the pond.Read more
Christmastime is absolutely my most favorite time of the year. I love when October rolls around and the stores start converting their aisles for the holidays. Our Christmas trees come up from the basement, I plan out our Christmas countdown, I start having dreams about wrapping paper, and even though my son is a teen now, I still display the elves around the house. Right now, one is sitting on top of a globe and the other is hanging upside down from a lamp. With Christmas stuff surrounding us for 2-3 months out of the year, have you ever stopped…Read more

(Merry Christmas in Scottish Gaelic) The New Year’s celebration, Hogmanay, is the important event of the year, as Christmas is not nearly as big of a deal in Scotland as it is in countries like America. Hogmanay is celebrated by festivities that last for nearly a week, with…Read more

We want the gift to practical, yet meaningful…something our loved one will treasure forever. Sometimes we are so busy worrying about presents for family and friends that we forget about those who are most in need.
Blessing bags for the homeless are an easy way to give back to your community, not just during the holidays, but all year around.Read more
Puzzle Activity Countdown Of all the Christmas countdowns I have ever done, this one took the longest to make, but I truly loved the end result and my son was thrilled with it. (He was 8 years old at the time.) What you need: A thick wood puzzle (the one I used is about 6″ x 9″ and had a dinosaur on it. If you like the image on your puzzle, it will make this project go faster. However I didn’t like the dinosaur scene so I found a cute picture of a LEGO Christmas tree to place over the dinosaur…Read more
