About Me

I am a Christian wife of 18 years to my knight in shining armor (he is the milk to my cookies) and mom to our 14-year-old scientist/ninja.  When our son was born, I gave up my career as a Business Analyst for a large children’s hospital and now have chosen to fill my days with science, history, math, and lots of reading! We have homeschooled since birth using a classical, literature-rich method.

In 2007, I co-founded, along with my friend Amy Bayliss, the well-known and popular homeschooling site Heart of the Matter, which soon turned into a group blog, digital magazine, and online conference. In 2012, I felt God calling me to other ventures and I turned Heart of the Matter over to new owners.

I currently co-own a marketing and social media company, iHomeschool Network LLC, which I founded with my friend Jimmie Lanley.

I am a brand ambassador for LEGO Education©, Prufrock Press, Samaritan’s Purse, Operation Christmas Child, and DK Publishing.

I have a passion for genealogy and a love for helping others trace their family trees and learn more about their roots. In fact, not only am I a descendant of King Alfred the Great, Charlemagne, William the Conqueror and three Mayflower Pilgrims, but General Robert E. Lee and President Teddy Roosevelt are my distant cousins.

My family and I are die-hard Whovians and Trekkies, I adore my husband and son, love tea, Jane Austen, books, Beauty and the Beast, small kitchen appliances, and holidays, even the silly ones like National Eat Like a Hobbit Day.

As the owner of  iHomeschool Network, I have self-published five books, three about homeschooling and two about blogging.

I found your blog through Pinterest. I am not a mom, but I am a Christian writer who writes Christian fiction and non-fiction for kids. This year, I began exploring how I might be able to write things to serve the Christian homeschooling community. I think your blog looks wonderful, and I will look forward to following it. God bless!
